Rolling Thunder Motorcycle Club (RTMC), celebrated their 3rd anniversary on 21st September this year. Though predominantly a Royal Enfield club, the RDs have ridden more than once with them.
The venue for the RTMC-3A party was decided as Yelagiri, since some of us wanted to ride. Moreover members from the Madras Bulls Motorcycling Club (MadBulls aka MBMC) had decided to ride over and Yelagiri was a decent place to meet, in between Chennai and Bangalore. Yelagiri can be reached easily from Bangalore through Hosur road. The road was perfect for RDs, smooth flowing, excellent visibility and aided high-speed travel.
Stopped a few times mainly to regroup and reached Vaniyambadi for lots of good biryani. By then the MadBulls landed up and after a quick rendezvous we left to blast up the hill. It was a wonderful ride up and we finally reached the party venue. After quickly getting places to crash out later, we met back at the party venue with was the Yelagiri Country Club. Partied true RTMC style, got drunk to the hilt and partied long into the night.
pm: You guys from Chennai rocked and we had a great time with you guys! Solo had made up bandanas for the entire group in 2 days flat! Great job dude and a great gesture too!
Next morning after a quick breakfast and bidding adieu to the MadBulls, we got ready to leave Yelagiri ourselves. Rode back to Bangalore with RDs of Aditya and Daryll on the same route after biryanis again for lunch at Vaniyambadi. We reached Bangalore late afternoon.
Had a great ride and Yelagiri makes an excellent weekend destination for anyone wishing to escape the daily grind. Just one warning, carry your own booze; there are no vendors at the top of the hill. You’ll have to either come down the hill or buy it in ‘black’.
The total headcount? 77 heads (above the neck) and 58 bikes.
Interesting?
Hairpins up the hill!

The last time I rode with them on a RD was in May 2003, the trip report for which can be found here My first ride with RTMC report.
