Results from the Drag meet at Sarjapur, Outer Ring Road, Bangalore

This Sunday’s drag meet turned out to be a pretty good affair. Organised by the ‘Extreme Machines Racing Club’ the drag meet has been called as ‘Drag Race 2003’. Being the first event of the new year, the turnout is expected to be better than normal. The event had been organised at Sarjapur Outer Ring Road, connecting Airport Road and Old Madras Road.

For the first time in Bangalore, the chirstmas tree was used for starting a drag race. All these years, drag races had been started by hand signals or with the help of a flag. This hopefully marks the begining of standardised timings methods and will bring some standardisation into the sport.

Because this was the first meet where in the christmas tree setup was used, a lot of jump starts, false starts and late starts were seen. I guess it will take sometime for the people to get used to this setup.

The only drawback on this event happened when one of the organisers ran his Fiat Palio over the laser setup at the finish line and broke the equipment. The rest of the meet had to be run with the help of the good old technique, with the hand and stopwatches. But this has been a good start none the less.

The various classes in which the vehicles ran can be seen in the previous article. But given below are the results that I have got, from one of the organisers.
