First Sunday Ride: Bagepalli-Chelur-Chintamani

It was time for yet another First Sunday Ride and this time the route was decided to be towards Bagepalli, north of Bangalore, towards the Andra Pradesh border. Solid start for the new year with 19 people turning up! The meeting point as usual at 06.30am, at the top of Mekhri Circle and we got there in time to see a few of the regulars and a few new members already there. At the time, neither did the fog nor did the weather seem too big an issue. But, how that changed once we headed out on Bellary road! Continue reading First Sunday Ride: Bagepalli-Chelur-Chintamani

Royal Enfield Himalayan Odyssey 2007

The Himalayan Odessy is back for 2007 after a great ride in the past couple of years. Though it is not exactly hardcore to many ‘adventurers’, citing many reasons like having backup vehicles and  mechanics, I’ve met a few riders who really enjoyed being on the Odessy. {mosimage}This is because people who would never have been able to go on such rides by themselves, find this a really good alternative. for the exact same reasons, some others would refrain from going. All the more reason to go if you have just bought one of the those new Machismo AVL 500s. There is no better place to put all the truck tractor loads of torque to better use, than in the challenging terrain of THE mountains. More over, who wouldn’t want to blast up the dirt tracks of the Himalayas when you can be sure of you luggage being safe in the truck behind.

The following is the press release from Royal Enfield regarding the Himalayan Odessey 2007. Continue reading Royal Enfield Himalayan Odyssey 2007

Weekend at Horsely Hills

The Madras Bulls initiated a ride who’s primary role was to go and negotiate the bookings for their club anniversary that is coming up in a while, at Horsely Hills. They did invite us all and the whole thing turned out to be a big party in itself with a large turnout from RTMC, Madbulls and V40, totalling upto 70 riders. Excellent arrangements from all the organisers and Muthu who handled the transactions from our end. Continue reading Weekend at Horsely Hills

Ghat Bang: Locked throttle and two smoking barrels

Ghat bang, a name to a ride which was meant to wind through the twisties in the Nilgiris. The plan was to ride to Masinagudi the first day, chill out for the night around a camp fire and then ride through the twisties taking the route through the steep Kalhatti ghat, Ooty, Kotagiri, down and through Sathyamangalam, up Dhimbam, through the forest to Kollegal, Kanakpura and Bangalore.
